How To Shop For Women's Motorcycle Gloves
When shopping for women’s motorcycle gloves there are a few things you will need to consider. First, what do you want the gloves to look like? Are you concerned about the color matching your bike or jacket? What material do you want? Is the brand important? How about the fit? These are questions you should be asking yourself before you begin to shop for women’s motorcycle gloves.
Color and Style
Women’s motorcycle gloves come in a wide variety of colors. You can buy basic black gloves that will match whatever outfit you happen to be wearing, or you can look for red gloves to match the trim on your favorite motorcycle jacket. Many women buy motorcycle gloves to match their bike or even to match their husband’s gloves.
The styles of ladies gloves vary, too. You can get basic driving gloves or you can get racing gloves. There are fingerless gloves and palmless gloves. The style of the gloves is important because it will affect the feel of the handles of the bike in your hands when you wear them.
Material
The material of the gloves can be anything from leather to denim. Some women’s gloves are faux leather, or pleather, which have the look and feel of leather but are far less expensive. Denim will breathe better than leather, and leather breathes better than pleather. If you decide to go with leather or pleather gloves, make sure they are vented. There is nothing worse than trying to shift with sweaty hands.
Brand
The brand of ladies gloves is more important to some then it is to others. Some women want to buy the brand of gloves that is made by the manufacturer of their bike. They might like to have the Honda symbol displayed on all of their motorcycle apparel, including their gloves, and this is just fine, although maybe a bit more expensive than buying a great pair of women’s motorcycle gloves from Firstgear or another fine brand. Either brand will be functional, it’s just a matter of taste.
Fit
The fit of a glove is far more important than the style or brand. When riding a motorcycle you are riding with your hands. The grip is different than it is to grip the steering wheel of a car. You cannot loosely hold the handles of a motorcycle, you need to have a firm grip at all times. If your gloves fit loosely, you could easily lose your grip and crash. Be sure the gloves you buy fit perfectly, not too tight to restrict the blood flow and numb your hands, and not loose. You want to leave no room for chance for your hands to slip off those handles.
Women can buy their motorcycle gloves at any motorcycle shop or biker’s apparel store. They are not hard to find. Many women settle for a good pair of driving gloves that can be found at a major retail outlet, but these do not compare in fit and comfort to a good pair of women’s motorcycle gloves. |
